My name is Reinier, 

An amateur astrophotographer from the Netherlands and the creator of Balcony_Astro.

I started astrophotography in 2019 because I wanted to capture the beautiful objects I could see in the night sky. What fascinates me most is how incredibly large the universe is. No matter how much you learn, there is always more to discover. At the same time, space is full of amazing objects and colors that are hard to imagine until you see them yourself.

The name Balcony Astro comes from where it all started, a small balcony and a simple DSLR camera on a tripod. Since then, I have continued to learn, improve my skills, and explore the night sky.

My favorite targets are nebulae because of their beautiful colors and unique shapes. At the same time, the variety of galaxies, star clusters, comets, and the Moon keeps the hobby exciting. Check them here!

Most of my images are captured from Brummen, a Bortle 4 region in the Netherlands, and nearby locations. This website serves as my portfolio and a place to share my journey through astrophotography, one image at a time.
